nation was advised to stress a diet rich in vegetables,
cooked dry beans and peas, fresh fruit, whole grains, some
nuts and seeds to combat chronic disease responsible now
for 75% of the national health care bill. This dietary
advice came from the board of 13 scientists and
nutritionists who formulate the Dietary Guidelines for the
US which by government fiat are issued every 5 years.
